Thanks to the Web, it’s easier than ever for new artists and musicians to be discovered and to sell their music directly to fans. How do you get started and what’s the best way to  promote  your band? Here are some tips:
One of the 1st places you will want to vis it’s MySpace. By now, everybody has heard of it and millions and millions of people have their own accounts. But I bet you didn’t know that MySpace offers a special kind of account just for promoting a performer or artist? It’s called MySpace Music and it’s completely free to sign up. With this kind of account, you could add up to 4 full tunes to your account for people to listen to while they’re reading your MySpace page. This alone makes a MySpace Music page worthwhile to session up, since getting people to listen to and discover your music is the main goal of most new musician s. Include a link to buy your compact disc  from your own web site, iTunes or other music retailer and you have got a amazing way to increase sales.
If an individual likes the music on your profile, they could add your performer as a friend, which means they could get email notices when you add a blog or send out a bulletin. Blogging on MySpace is one of the best ways to communicate with your fans (friends), when your performer has a tour coming up, an appearance, is working on new music or has any news of any kind, you will want to post it to your blog and keep your fans up to date. The more your communicate with fans, the more they will feel like a part of your community.
In addition,  you could take advantage of a multitude of other options, including listing your influences, adding a picture gallery, adding full videos, adding banners and a lot of other options.
Just be sure to log in again and again to approve new companions and to communicate with other members. There are furthermore a lot of MySpace Groups you could join where a message board is session up for members to communicate. Joining an emerging artist type group would endorse you to network with other new musicians and even to  promote  each other, discuss new ways to get new fans, find an individual to tour with or even to collaborate with.
An additional essential step to promoting your music On-line is to have your own web site. While MySpace is excellent, it’s best to have as a lot of a Clubs of promotion as possible. It may be simple, with just a bit about your performer and links to buy your album or it may be a major presence loaded with content. The more content you add and the more again and again you update your web site and your MySpace profile, the better, as people will keep coming back to see your fresh content and news. Some elements to contemplate adding to your band’s web site include biographies of the members, history of the band, news section, tour dates and appearance schedule, photos, music videos, sample tunes to download, wallpapers, icons, ringtones, links to buy your album or merchandise, discography and anything else you want to let people know about. You’ll furthermore want to link your web site to your MySpace and vice versa.

Viral Marketing- Web Success

Traditional radio airplay, standard brick and mortar distribution and being signed by a major record label are no longer the only means of getting your music noticed. Thanks to digital distribution and the massive appeal and simple access to the Web, unknown musical skill now has a opportunity at real success. Additionally the indie musician is not stuck with the costs of making an entire compact disc. They could make a single and post it on the Web, gaining huge success from one song.
With a little know how and marketing sensibility any upstart musician or experienced musical act could now achieve success, amazing success in fact on their own. Recently, while a guest on the Sirius Satellite Radio Show The Good Life, I spoke with the host who related me that his two teenage boys get most of their music off the Web and never listen to regular radio anymore.
Why? Because they could capture music from acts they wouldn’t be allowed to listen to on traditional radio. They’re tired of the same old artists and singers being played over and over again. “ Most do not have any skill ; they’re just showpieces.” This isn’t the 1st or the final time I have heard that statement from teenagers and adults a like.
For the indie artist who wants to reach a broad er market (and you must have a wonderful product) and receive more exposure for their product on the Web, the 1st thing you need to do is market, guerrilla market and then market some more. How do you do that? There are a lot of ways that I mention in my book, The Indie Guide to Music, Marketing and Money, but here are several simple suggestions:
* Join music boards and start in on the discussion. At the end of each of your posts make sure to put who you are and your web site. Add something to the conversation, do not spam. Write endorse ful hints and post them on the boards, etc. If the boards do not allow tags but they do allow you to post your email address, make sure it’s something with your web site at the end. Have a real email address but DON’T use your main email because it will be spammed. Something like mine: raeofhope@jacirae.com
* Establish networking at local/regional musician meetings and songwriter/ musicians forums in your region. You could find them on the Web. These meetings host musicians such as yourself who event on a regular basis to discuss the music scene and present their latest creations. It’s furthermore a amazing place to get the pulse on performances you could join in on and new marketing ideas.
* You know all that annoying spam snail mail you receive with pre-paid postage envelopes inside? Why not save the envelopes and put a little note inside that states since they were kind enough to share their information with you, you are returning the favor. furthermore, with any bill or any correspondence you send out that is official, include a one sheet or little card that has a blurb about you and your music (watch the weight; you do not want to add more postage). Ensure to put your web site on whatever material you have.
* Establish your own podcast and post it on all the podcast web site s.
* Why not send your music to diverse podcasts. Ask permission 1st. Send them to your web site where they could hear a sample or two; and If the y are receptive to playing your music on their podcast, send it along. If the y use your music in their podcast, you could have gained new fans and sold more compact disc s.
The most important thing you could do is to play live. Go to Wal-Mart, Starbucks and other local/regional shops and ask if you could put on a free concert there. Anywhere and any place that will let you play, do! Ensure to have a sign up sheet where people could sign up for your newsletter. Then create a newsletter and send it out once a month at the most. This is a form of “Buzz Marketing” furthermore known as “Viral Marketing.” At the end of the letter make sure you include your webpage of course. Tell your fan base they could pass it along to whoever they want.
This is a truly very tiny list of things you could do. The time for the indie musician is now. Take advantage of it!

Independent Music Promotion on the Internet : 3 Steps to Success

Posted by Music Archive | Posted in Online Music | Posted on 17-05-2009

Let us face it, the wildfire spread of web-based portals designed to introduce independent music to the world has created a bewildering array of opportunities and costs. So where do they all balance out? When does the cost of signing up to yet another music promotion service yield results? What results are  all of us  looking for anyway?
The key is to make your Web promotion targeted, systematic and rich.
What is the main drive for independent musicians  promote  their music on the web? The fundamental incentive for Web promotion is the opportunity to get your music heard by people who could alternatively never know that you exist! If people know you exist they may be come fans and repeat- fans. Which of those fans buy compact disc ’s and downloads? Targeted fans.
The most important goal of Web promotion is to attract targeted fans.
Any independent artist who says they use the Web to sell their music has missed the primary target – attracting targeted fans. Attracting targeted fans should be every independent  artist’s  1st priority.   Do not forget , you do not sell your music – fans BUY your music. It’s a buyers market. The more targeted fans you have, the more sales you make – offer d you are systematic in getting your targeted fans.
The best way to get targeted fans is to be systematic.
a lot of musicians tend to approach their Web promotion thinking that since they have a web site and have signed up to a couple of artist showcase web site s, that the fans will just come pouring in. Yes you have managed to target some potential fans, but you still have to shout, “Hey, over here… you will like the sound of this!” A systematic approach to getting fans to hear your music will attract and maintain their interest. But recall to make sure you have the content ready for the listener to enjoy.
Sites rich in content will retain your targeted listener.
In the independent  artist’s  case, the rich content is the music. This could seem like old news, but look at the amount of independent artist web sites that give the visitor loads of info about the performer but truly little (or hidden) ear candy. Music should be the 1st thing a visitor gets. At the truly least they need an apparent link to where they could listen to your music. And not just one or two tracks but a variety of your music. Independent musicians have to recall they have not had the radio exposure to model the presentation of their music following more well established acts. Listeners need to be convinced they like your independent music before they will buy it.
So the question is how to make your Web promotion targeted, systematic and rich?
Tips for Targeting.
The best targeted fans on the Web will be those that make it to your web site. Locate a way to know who they are. session up a newsletter and make it simple to sign up to it. people interested enough to want to receive news about you are your hardcore Web fans, keep them happy.
The next best group of targeted fans are those that hear your music on other web site s. Try to pick web sites that allow fans to link to your web site. If the y like your music they could click on that link to visit your web site. You could then find out where these visitors are coming from. Locate a wonderful Web statistics package that lets you know which web sites your visitors are being referred from. Take note of those web sites and focus your resolutions with them accordingly.
When choosing web sites on which to  promote  your music, check to see If the y offer any individual stats relating to your music. like how a lot of track plays or page views you and your music receive on their web site. This way you could check in periodically and monitor your performance with these web site s.
Systematic Steps.
The key to being systematic is organization. Keep a note of all the web sites you use to  promote  your music, a brief description of what they do and how much it costs. Try to get into the practice of monitoring all of them regularly. Take note of which web sites are getting better results than others and focus your resolutions accordingly. You could pay for minimal promotion on one web site, while another gets you loads of fans for free. Naturally you will want to put more resolution into updating the web sites that are getting better results.
offer a link on your web site and newsletters to all of the web sites you use to  promote  your music.  Do not forget your web site visitors are your hardcore Web fans and are the most like ly to check out and spread the word about your spot on other web site s. So  promote  them to visit your profile on other web site s. At the truly least it raises your stats on those web sites – making your music look more popular!
Try to create a ring of web sites that link to each other though the content you supply. By way of example, you could have your music on your own web site and two other showcase web sites – web site A and web site B. Your web site should without a doubt link with web site A and web site B. web site A should link with your web site and web site B, web site B should link with your web site and web site A and so on. What If the se web sites do not allow you to session up links to other web site s? Put a Web address in the areas where they do allow you to supply content. like biogs or descriptions.
The highest quality aim of linking all your web sites is to offer your fans with a variety of access points to your music, as well as access to the diverse ways numerous web sites could deliver your music.  Do not forget to link to your specific page on the web site and not just the web site itself. Your web site linked with a web site that play your tracks on Web radio, linked with a web site that sells your downloads, linked with a web site that sells your compact disc ’s offers for a influential mixture of exposure.
Be Rich
without money ! That’s the challenge that most independent musicians face. The conventional approach to selling music is that it should not be too readily available to listen to, should the incentive for fans to actually buy albums be undermined. This has persuaded independent musicians that they should limit Web fans to low-quality snippets of streaming audio.
Independent musicians have to recall they do not have the sources and finances to aid the “shotgun approach” of spraying their music across radio and music TV. Big musicians have big organizations behind them that need to recoup the costs of mass media exposure, and and so try to limit the extent to which fans could sample their music on the web. Listeners have already heard the music and are trying to find a copy of their own.
Conversely, fans have not had a opportunity to listen to independent artist through conventional media. Therefore independent musicians cannot assume that people will buy their music off of a web site If the y do not get a opportunity to really listen to it. If people have already heard an  artist’s  music, and like it, the value they pay for is in owning a copy they could play whenever they like. If people have not already heard an  artist’s  music, the value is in being able to sample as much of the music as possible.
So being rich is providing your fans with as much of your music as they want to listen to before they buy it. Now you do not have to make all your tracks available for free download, but you could offer wonderful quality, full-length streams that impress the listener and elevate your sound. Not tight-fisted snippets that lose the listener because they’re lo-fi and over before they attract the listener’s interest.
Being rich is furthermore making your music available in a variety of formats for diverse fans s. Telling fans that your music may be heard via Web radio, on-demand streams, mp3 downloads and mail order compact disc  means you could appeal to fans who like more than one kind of media. You could furthermore use your Web promotion to go beyond readily plays and sales – contemplate licensing.
Licensing your music for use with TV, film, advertising, web site s, video games and other multimedia will open up your listening fans, offer re Club and introduce a degree of professionalism to your career that attracts the notice of industry reps and A&R. Adding this depth to your Web promotion endorses to enrich the presentation of your music and retain targeted fans.
So recall : a) maximise your targeted fans, b) be systematic in capture ing them, and c) retain them by making sure your own web site and other web sites are rich in content.

Promoting Your Music On-line

Promoting your music On-line has never been as simple as it’s now. In 2008. And for fans and artists a like, this is incredibly inspiring.
Why is music promotion easier now for the average musician, performer and songwriter? Why was it hard before?
There are two key reasons why music promotion was hard before.
1st ly, music production and distribution was largely the domain of five big record organizations.
Between them they controlled a catalogue of some 3.5 millions tunes (2004). This catalogue of tunes took over seven decades to compile. And they were only rising their catalogue by a negligible 36,000 or so albums each year.
Secondly, their power was based on controlling an offline based, bricks and mortar music business where fans purchased expensive compact disc ’s from record shops.
How simple do you think it was to get your tunes noticed, produced blockbuster-marketed in those times?
Why is it easier now?
Mark Vidler, of Go Home Productions in the United Kingdom, summarizes the rewards of the new music environment.
“You do not need a distributor, because your distribution is the Web. You do not need a record label, because it’s your bedroom, and you do not need a recording studio, because that is your computer. You do it all yourself.
In just 37 words, a musician has just related you what things have vary d.
Web marketing pioneer, Mark Joyner, observes on his simple ology blog that “You do not need a label. You do not need an agent. You do not even need a huge budget. Some people do this on a zero-dollar ad budget.
In just 27 words, a marketing maven has given you three success secrets for promoting your music On-line.
Let us put the experts aside for a second and bring it back to you, the songwriter, the musician, looking to make music to share with fans.
In the beginning when you are holding down a day job, scores and 100’s of fans will make you feel famous.
When you have played to 100’s then you will want to play to thousands of fans. When thousands have viewed your videos or downloaded your music, then it will feel normal to shoot for millions of video views, downloads and sales.
And you know what? In the Web age, going for millions of fans is just that: normal.
Let us look at just one specific Web development that underlines the new normal.
MySpace started in February 1999. In February 2008, MySpace has musician profiles numbering 13.4 millions. Musicians typically register for three profiles so 13.4 million profiles actually represents around 4.45 millions musicians and bands.
That’s quite several.
Each profile offers their visitor an average three tunes to listen to. Which means that on MySpace.com alone, there are about 13.4 million tunes posted.
That’s 13.4 million tunes.
Did you notice what just happened? In nine years (less than one decade) MySpace has compiled more tunes faster than the record organizations.
Nearly four times more tunes seven times faster!
What a record company nightmare. Worse, this is only one Website that is buried them. What about all the other music web sites?
iTunes for example, are up to a million paid music downloads. Daily.
Has the game vary d or has the game vary d?
Has promoting your music On-line just got easier or has it just got easier?

A rock performer or rock group is a group of musicians specializing in rock pop music . Most of the rock groups consist of a guitarist, guide singer, bass guitarist, and drummer, forming a quartet. Few groups could skip one or more of these roles and make use of a guide singer who could play an instrument while singing, forming a trio or duo; others include additional musicians such as one or two rhythm guitarists and/or a keyboardist. Seldom, groups furthermore employ stringed instruments such as violins or cellos, or horns like trumpets or trombones.
